许大师强调意译，英诗因此充分发挥了英文诗歌的特点，彰显了英诗的传统风韵，而不是过分拘泥于汉诗的格式和字词。读了一首又一首，觉得他翻译水平和英文水平真高，颇受启发。但对《江雪》一诗的译法，我有不同意见。原诗和英译如下：
千山鸟飞绝，万径人踪灭。
孤舟蓑笠翁，独钓寒江雪。
From hill to hill no bird in flight;
From path to path no man in sight.
A lonely fisherman afloat,
Is fishing snow in lonely boat.
我个人觉得，诗的最后两句似乎有点问题，比如“fishing snow”是不是很费解？“垂钓雪仿卖巧花？” 我这么理解，可能有点死抠字眼、死心眼！
我个人是从事英文纪实写作（如新闻、行业分析文章和报告）的，配备不是搞翻译的，从我的角度看，觉得译作省去了汉诗中提到的中国特色的“蓑笠”\、“翁”。
