I can't understand why he do it in this way. I think it's not worth at all. If one person don't like you or not respect you,you needn't do everything for her. 《远大前程》主要讲了：孤儿皮普被姐姐和姐夫抚养长大，过着贫穷却温暖的生活。为了赢得美丽、傲慢的富家女埃丝苔娜的爱情，他决定做有钱的上流社会绅士。机缘巧合，他曾经帮助过的一个逃犯发财后，暗中资助他到伦敦读书，并进入了上层社会。皮普的面前似乎已经是展开了一条康庄大道，他的“远大前程”在前方等着他了。于是他开始鄙视自己的出身，鄙视生活困难的亲人。向埃丝苔娜求爱被拒绝后，资助他的逃犯被抓，财产全部被没收。皮普重新被上流社会抛弃。他痛定思痛，重新考虑自己的人生，终于认识到什么是真正的人生。过了很多年，自食其力的皮普重新回到家乡，得到了自己来之不易的亲情和爱情。
